Performance parameters and morphological changes in intestinal villi of broilers at 21 days of age by the inclusion of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell walls

A research study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell walls (ScCw) at 500 g/t and avilamycin as a growth promoter antibiotic(GPA), at 10 ppm, in sorghum + soybean meal diets for broiler chicks, on live production perfor- mance at 21 days of age, as well as on length, width, number and area of intestinal villi at 10 and 21 days. A total of 200 one-day- old broiler chicks were allocated in batteries and distributed in a completely randomized design, consisting of a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with fi ve repetitions of 10 birds each one.

Effects of dietary supplementation of mannan-oligosaccharide on virus shedding in avian influenza (H9N2) challenged broilers

Avian influenza (AI) is a highly contagious disease causing significant economic losses worldwide. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS) on tracheal and cloacal virus shedding in AI challenged broilers and contamination of environment with H9N2 . A total of 300 1-day-old-broiler chicks were randomly divided into 3 groups (A, B and C) and supplemented 0.2, 0.5 and 0.0% MOS, respectively in NRC recommended diet for 36 days. On day 21 the groups were further split into two sub groups A+ve, A-ve, B+ve, B-ve, C+ve and C-ve with 5 replicates each.

Yeast cell wall supplementation alters aspects of the physiological and acute phase responses of crossbred heifers to an endotoxin challenge

A study was conducted to determine the effect of feeding yeast cell wall (YCW) products on the physiological and acute phase responses of crossbred, newly-received feedlot heifers to an endotoxin challenge. Heifers (n ¼ 24; 219 2.4 kg) were separated into treatment groups receiving either a control diet (n ¼ 8), YCW-A (2.5 g/heifer/d; n ¼ 8) or YCW-C (2.5 g/heifer/d; n ¼ 8) and were fed for 52 d. On d 37 heifers were challenged i.v. with LPS (0.5 mg/kg body mass) and blood samples were collected from 2 h to 8 h and again at 24 h relative to LPS challenge.

Effects of yeast cell wall on early production laying hen performance

The influence of 2 concentrations of yeast cell wall (YCW), supplied as Safmannan A, at 250 and 500 ppm on early production laying hen performance (21–36 wk) was investigated in this study. A total of 75 Lohmann W-36 replacement pullets, 17 wk old, were distributed among 75 laying hen cages (1 bird/pen).

Effect of Different Levels of Biosaf Probiotic in Medium Concentrate Diet on Performance and Blood Factors of Iranian Zandi Lambs

In order to evaluate the effect of different levels of Biosaf probiotic(yeast based) in supplemental diet containing medium concentrate (65%) on growth performance and blood factors of zandi lambs, 27 male weaned lambs(29.9 ± 0.28 kg, 90 ± 5 days) were allocated to one of three treatment diets in a completely randomized design, including: 1-basal diet without probiotics (Control, C) 2-basal diet supplemented with 3 g probiotic per lamb (Low Probiotic, LP) 3-basal diet supplemented with 4.5 g probiotic per lamb (High Probiotic, HP). Basal diet was containing 2.59 MCal/ Kg ME and 15.5% crude protein.

Immune-modulatory effects of dietary Saccharomyces cerevisiae cell wall in broiler chickens inoculated with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) cell wall (YCW) supplemented in diets of broiler chickens challenged with Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS). 2. One-day-old broiler chicks were randomly distributed into 24 cages (6 replicate cages; 8 birds/cage) and were inoculated with 0 or 1 mg/kg body weight E. coli-LPS (d 4 and 9) and 0 or 500 mg YCW/kg feed, resulting in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments.

The effects of live yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae on postweaning diarrhea, immune response, and growth performance in weaned piglets

The effects of live yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain CNCM I-4407, 1010 cfu/g; Actisaf; Lesaffre Feed Additives, Marcq-en-Baroeul, France) on the severity of diarrhea, immune response, and growth performance in weaned piglets orally challenged with enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) strain O149:K88 were investigated. Live yeast was fed to sows and their piglets in the late gestation, suckling, and postweaning periods. Sows were fed a basal diet without (Control; n = 2) or with (Supplemented; n = 2) 1 g/kg of live yeast from d 94 of gestation and during lactation until weaning of the piglets (d 28).
